A dialogue about a law which sought to criminalize sexual minorities.

What make politicians try to pass homophobic and kinkophobic laws, and what makes these politicians back off? A case which may be interesting as well as amusing is the “family resilience bill” which in 2020 failed miserably in the parliament of Indonesia.

One core feature of this proposed law was to outlaw not only homosexual and sadomasochistic acts, but also homosexual and sadomasochistic feelings: making all gay and kinky people obliged by law to confess and to seek out (pseudoscientific) conversion therapy in order to become vanilla heterosexuals.

Another core feature was to demand that each family must have gender-segregated separate rooms for the children – not in the form of offering any help with better housing, but instead punishing parents for not being rich enough to afford a big house.
Besides this case, we'll also discuss the new anti-LGBTQ law in Hungary, the infamous “Bathroom bills” against trans people in the USA as well as some failed attempts to outlaw BDSM in Sweden.
